The Giver Wee of November 24

draw a picture of what you just read
p.g. 58-154

In this picture I was showing the scene on p.g.150.  This is the scene where The Giver shows Jonas the release that Jonas's father committed earlier that day. As we all know, a release is when a baby is born with special needs or is a twin that is identical or if someone has grown too old to move around, when someone comes to this, the child or adult is taken a way and is given an injection which causes them a painless death.

The reason I decided to draw this scene is because this is very important in the following chapters. When Jonas see's that his father is killing an innocent child, Jonas is outraged and disgusted with his father. This causes the Giver and Jonas come up with a plan to change the community. There plant is to have Jonas leave the community and the longer he is away, the more memories the people back at the community will be receiving the memories Janas once had.  Although this will cause people great agony and pain, it will give the people feelings of compassion, love, and happiness. All of this comes out of this one scene.

Word bubble-"All done. That wasn't so bad, wasn't it.
Box on top of table- dispose needles.
Longer box- Release.

The Giver week of 11/17/13

prompt:
Draw an interpretation of the passage – may be a picture, symbols, graphic
pages read: 0-58

This is a picture of the number 12. I drew this because in the book  "The Giver"  number 12 isa  very important number. Twelves years of age in the Giver represents adulthood. Also this is where they get there life long job. People before the age of twelve go throughout smaller ceremonies like ceremony of nine. This is where kids get there first bike. Or like the ceremony of 10. in the ceremony of 10, kids get all of their have cut off so kids can get used to being grown up and look like an adult.

Also this is the age of when kids start getting there"stirrings" also know as PUBERTY. yes puberty. This is very important because when the stirrings start, they give kids a special pill to make them go away from feeling, dreams,or thoughts. Kids are not of though of as kids when they reach age 12. They are officially an adult, but they still go to school? This is the way it is I guess.

If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince? Week of 11,11,13

Does the title fit the story? Why or why not?
59-162

This Title "If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where's My Prince?" fits the story in multiple ways. One is that the story is kind of like a modern day Cinderella. Since it revolves around this topic, the story matches the title because of the Prince,Stepmother, the pat of being a wicked mother.

The fists way is the part that says "Wicked stepmother". Lucy, the main character, just moved in with her new step mother. She has to stepsisters the "Princesses". The princesses are constantly getting spoiled my their mother , just like in the original story of Cinderella. The Princesses have no chores but Lucy has all of them, just like Cinderella. When Lucy tries to get a bed. Just a BED for her "Room", Her WICKED stepmother finds it as an insult because at the time, she and lucy were arguing about how messy her room is but Lucy has no drawers to put clothes in and when they kind of off topic from the messiness and Lucy brings up the bed, like I said, she gets furious because she is a decorator. This relates to Cinderella because Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters take everything she says stupid and offensive.

Another way this book is connected to the title is when it says "Pince?" This relates because after a whole 3 moths of living with her stepmother and being the outcast at school, Lucy scores the captain of the basketball team in which every girl drools over. This relates to the story of Cinderella because  the story, all Cinderella wants is love. Int eh title, it is inferring, where is MY prince? Cinderella meets her prince at the ball. Lucy meets hers at her princes first basketball game. So this story fits in with the story because throughout the story, Lucy deals with her WICKED stepmother and is look for her prince.

Well, first this girl named /lucy moves across the country to New York . She has a new step mom and 2 step sisters. She thinks of herself kind of like Cinderella. She is basically. She is an out cast at school. She always eats lunch in the art room. One day she goes to the art room but the art teacher is having meetings. So Lucy is forced to sit and eat in the lunch room. When she is there, she sits at a table with girls named Jessica & Madison.  Eventually Connor pearson and 2 of his friends (jessica & Madisons boyfriends come) They meet and talk about a up coming gam, Lucy gets winked at and she had her self esteem boost a little.

When lucy get home she makes plans with her dad for the weekend to go to a museum. But those plans are cancelled because of her stepmother. They end up going antique shopping. While there, Lucy finds something that catched her eye to finally decorate her so called "room". But she gets turned down because her mother does not like the piece of furniture at all! They start to argue and have a fight and end up not getting anything. But Lucy has her life changed for her.

One day at lunch, Jessica and Madison call he rover and invite her to a basketball game. They tell her that Connor Pearson invited her because he thinks she is cool. Well she spends all day figuring out how to look. She gets picked up and is half insulted and half complimented. They get there and she stares at Connor all day. Then they go to a pizza place and wait in line FOREVER! When they finally get to the front, Connor and his 2 friends come in and start making out except for Connor and Lucy.
