Prompt: After reading, I wonder…
Pages: 37-finished
I just finished Of Mice and Men and I have to admit that the ending is not what anyone expected. After Lennie kills his bosses wife, he runs off without telling anyone and this made me think, Why didn't Lennie go and tell George? He does trust him with all his heart, right?
Also, when Lennie is at the Salinas river, sitting there in the brush, what cause Lennie to hallucinate his Aunt Clara and a giant bunny. Was it the shock that he wouldn't be able to tend the rabbits at his,George's, and Candy's dream land? Or was it that he did know that what he did caused a life and it was getting to him?
Lastly, John Steinbeck ends his book with Lennie dying, slim comforting George who killed Lennie, and all the other men shrugging off Lennie dying. We never find out what happened after Lennie dies. Like if George and Candy still get their dream home, if Candy gets mad at george for killing Lennie because he wanted to do it. I thought that Steinbeck did an amazing job with this book but he should of ended it differently.

MILKWEED
*Summarize
what you just read
*Pages read- 0-15
Although I have just started this book by Jerry Spinelli, I have gotten a lot of details about the characters and settings in the book. So far I have met Uri. A teenager that helps out Stopthief. Stopthief is the main character.
Stopthief got his "name" after being chased by police men saying "stop thief" after Stopthief stole a piece of bread from a rich lady. While running away, Uri saw that Stopthief take the bread that he was going to steal. After Uri noticed how young stopthief was, he decided to help him out buy showing him some shortcuts away from the police men.
After losing the police, Uri leads Stopthief to his secret hiding place. After arriving,to the the Barn (The secret hiding place) we meet a bunch of Uri's friends. When they meet Stopthief, they make fun of him because of his small structure. Sofar, that is all I have read.

OF MICE AND MEN
prompt- Draw an interpretation of the passage – may be a picture,
symbols, graphic
pages:26-37
I drew a picture of a mouse for 2 reasons. One is that Lennie has an obsession with
small soft, smooth, furry objects such as Mice,Rabbits, cloth. Lennie will sometimes also carry a mouse in his pocket so he can pet it. (The mice were alive) Eventually the mice would bite his finger and he would pinch their heads and they would die.
Another reason that I drew a mouse was because of the title of the book. "Of Mice and Men". The book got this title after a poem where a mouse get's his house crushed by a tractor and he ends up dyeing in the winter.
I feel that the mouse is a big symbol for Lennie because it seems that the mouse calms down Lennie and he loves them but always ends up killing them.

Of Mice and Men
Prompt:Are the characters realistic (do they seem like they could
be real people)? Why
or why not?
Pages- 0-16
Well so far, I have met both George and Lennie. I feel that both character are able to be real character back in the time of the 30's. They both speak the way they did then.
Also, both Lennie and George have their own touches that make them Realistic.
First , let's start off with Lennie. Lennie seems that he has a disorder of some type. Now, the reason he seems realistic is because he has a lot of the characteristics a person with down syndrom would have. He has something he really like doing everyday. Like petting soft things. People with a dosorder have something similar like a special penny or something like that.
