prompt-Name the differences and similarities between you and your main character


           From what I read so far of my book, I have noticed both similarities and differences between me and Lisa, a fourteen year old Jewish girl during WW2. I see more of similarities more that differences. of course there are the basic similarities like being a girl,going to school, liking music. But mostly I see that we both care about how our hair looks and how our clothes look. In the beginning of the book it says "She stood in front of the mirror for an eternity, arraigning her dark red hair so that it peeked stylishly from under the wool hat she had just brought in the hand-me-down store. I reall care about my hair. One minute it looks nice, then i touch it or put a brush through it and it becomes u big ball of poof. This is why i take an hour just doing my hair. . . . . . . . . . . . . .


          A difference between me and Lisa is our interest in instruments. Lisa likes more classical instruments like the violin,piano,and flute.  I love those instruments to but it's the way they are played. I mean I could have 4 days of full sleep and fall asleep to slow classical piano. Although it never says that she plays classical, it was the time back ten and in this quote it really implies it "She yearned to join them, wear fine clothes and speak of Beethoven ans Mozart". Over all we may love music like I love pop, latin,and rock but in this time, all this music was not in at the time.

           One really big similarity between me and lisa is our personality. We are both happy,energetic,fun people. It might not be that hard fir someone to bring us down but we wont let it go without a fight. We love the average

 girls things especially a nice warm hot summer day.

      IM FREE. IM FREE. IM FREE. I Yanek have survived the war. 10 concentration camps,2 death marches and the Krakow Ghetto. I have my life back and some family. I have now left the place I once called home and have gone to America. I must find a job or I will be were I left off. Homeless,cold,and hungry. I vowed to my self I would never become prisoner B-3087 but I wil be Yanek. I vowed I will always help the poor,hungry,and sick. I will never ever turn my back on my fellow jews,christians,or gypsies. They are people and should never be left to die.

    I do miss my parents. I have the dreams and I will never get the image of my moms blank face when our flat was raided. The image of Fred being beaten and hung, and the image of burnt man who snapped and killed himself. I will never forget. NEVER. I can forgive, but I cannot forget. If I were asked 7 years from now, I will be able to tell you how a cloud look the day Fred died, or what shirt I wore when I saw my parents be taken away. Everything to the POINT!

    I may have B-3087 on my arm for life but I will never ever agin become prisoner B-3087. If anything, I think that I was fortunate to be alive and to know to never take stuf for granted. I mean I remember  how I felt when I saw a toothbrush. Something that only cost 99 cents in america, was given to me free and I could remember crying. I Yanek WILL NEVER GO BACK,NEVER TURN MY BACK, AND NEVER FORGET. I may of been a prisoner but I myself am Yanek. And I always will be.

      I this story believable because this story is based o  a true story so I know this actually happened. Besides that, if I didn't know this was a true story, I would believe it because of how descriptive the book was. In this quote, it states "We were skin and bones,with shaved heads and shuffling gaits and red skin where

they tattooed us." This goes into depth on physical appearance. In this quote, it foes into depth of how the man character, Yanek feels after being moved to concentration camp after another for at least 3 years, "I'm not going to let them line me up on the edge of a pit and shoot me, I told myself. I will fight back. I will kick the nazi's in the shins. I will run. I won't go like a sheep to slaughter!" At this time in the book, he furious with the Nazi's because the cold blooded people. They way the author says this with detail really shows how he feels. Especial when Yanek says "I will not go like a sheep to slaughter.

     Another way I would probably know that this was believable is work choice. When a author is writing a book, they wan't bigger words. But in this book it takes place from a child's perspective that has only gone to school for elementary school. So of course he would keep that in mind but also he would not talk like a 4 year old. Here's an example. "They were big rocks,and it was a big pile. The rocks were heavy and rough." You see, an author would usually use words like huge  and giant. But this author did it form the point of view of Yanek who has had very little school experience.

     The last way I feel that this is believable is the history behind it. Everyone knows or at least knows what it is, We all know about Hitler,the Nazi's,the Jews, and most of the time Ann Frank. In this book they incorporate the history into the book. Now, They are not straight forward like to say "Hitler & the Nazi's4 was mean,cruel,and killed thousands of the Jewish people. They involve it through the conversations of the Jewish people like in  this quote it says ""Goeth seven, Jews nil."another man told him. "What's that." I asked. "How many Jews Goeth has killed since you've been here?" "No," the man said "How many Jews Goeth has killed today. Here they are implying that the Nazi's did not care at all for the Jews. This implied a random estimate on how many Jews were killed each day,at every concentration camp all over Germany.

     It has been a few months since Katniss, my older sister has returned from the Hunger Games. I really didn’t know what to expect. I certainly didn’t fexpect what came. Every night, I can barely sleep knowing that my sister, in the very next room, almost died. It doesn’t help either when I can hear Katniss screaming from the terrible memories. I lye awake, crying. Thinking. “She did all of this for ME.” ME. It’s my fault she has endure all this pain but when I run to tell my mother, she sighs and smiles. She holds me and says, “ Katniss did this out of her own will. There was no possible reason that you caused this. They picked your name but katniss loved you too much to even think of you stepping into that arena.”

I always wonder if Katniss is angry with me. Upset, annoyed,disgusted. I can’t tell why I think this. But this is my life. The life of Primrose Everdeen. I am 13 years old and now live in victors village with my sister Katniss Everdeen. I help my mother with her medical patients. I really want to become a nurse. Right now i am single but I will never feel alone around here we are not know for the girl who hunts,the sister who has a goat, or the wife of a dead mine worker. We are know as the family who has a daughter volunteer for her sister. You would think that hearing all of these things are good? You are known for something amazing,generous,and kind. WRONG! It reminds Katniss every day of what she witnessed in the arena. It reminds me that I scared my sister for life. It reminds my mother that her family is broken. But we have to deal with it everyday and it hurts us all .....

December 14,3067

        The other day we got a guest at the house that made my heart drop and made my lungs feel like rubber. President Snow marched in with guards. Katniss, as usual was hunting at this time of day. Snow was straight forward,“Where’s Katniss?” No good morning, hello, how do you do. Me and my mother were forced to lie. Citizens of our town are prohibited to cross the gate separating us from the woods. Of course, Katniss being Katniss always disobey the rules and leaves anyway. We had told him that she went on a walk with Gale. My mother looked like she was about to throw up. Snow could sense it but was not sure what was wrong. Snow decided to stay and wait for Katniss to arrive. He forced himself into my mothers study and asked for some tea and cookies. An hour passed and Katniss had arrived. Not knowing of what Was was in the room next to us she says “ Mom? Prim? I just came back from ....” before we cut her off. I told my sister “we have a guest” with the most fake smile ever. Katniss seemed confused. But as soon as the door of the study opened, Katniss looked like she was going to faint on the spot. “ President snow, good morning. What a surprise.” Katniss spoke with an uneasy voice. Snow replied with “ Yes, good morning. I have come all the way here to chat with you.” Katniss’s face went pale. She walked towards snow into that room. As soon as that door shut, it seemed that that door would never open again.

December,17,3067

        My heat is still pounding from our “Visitor”. Ever since that day, the whole house is dark,silent,and it feels hollow. Katniss had told us that president snow had told her that because of what happened in the arena, small groups of people in the districts took as a pre-planned sign of rebellion. He made it very clear that if people were no convinced of what happened in the arena was for Peeta, because she could not live without him, the will be a rebellion and it will all be on her. HOW CAN HE PUT THAT TYPE OF RESPONSIBILITY IN HER HANDS. ESPECIALLY SINCE HER AND PEETA DON'T EVEN DATE OR LOVE EACH OTHER. Ever since the games, since Katniss told peeta all the kissing was just to help them stay alive, they have barely shared eye contact. Katniss is supposed to convince the people of Panem that she and Peeta almost killed themselves out of love on the Victory Tour. The Victory Tour is a tradition in Panem. Every year, a few months after the games, the tribute, in this case, the tributes are sent to every district 12-the Capitol to pay respects,say thank you for watching the games,and thank you to anyone that sponsored them. I know that the next two weeks are going to be terrible. Katniss has to go to district 12 and pay respects to Rue’s family. A mother and three sisters.I know that Katniss is going to re-live everything the next 2 weeks vividly. And I know I will two.

January,7th,3067

          I HATE PRESIDENT SNOW! I HATE HATE HATE HATE HIM. Let me take you back to 30 minutes ago. Katniss has been home for three day and today was the day we find out the twist for the Quarter Quell. Every 25 years of the hunger games, there is a special twist on the arena and or how the tributes are picked. Last time we had a Quarter Quell, the tributes were multiplied so we had 48 tributes instead of 24. This year was Peeta’s first year on mentoring. We were in the middle of the ceremony and then it fell silent. These were president snows exact words, “ Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the begging of the 75th annual Hunger Games. Today is an honor for the cities of panem. For this is the beginning of the Quarter Quell.” Everyone started cheering. I cant stand the people on Panem!! “Silence. Please. Silence. Now this years Hunger Games twist.” Now you could hear Buttercup (my cat) in the other room breathing. “ This year, the 75th hunger games tributes will be picked from ................................ the pool of living victors in every district.” I was shocked! I felt like everything was in slow motion. I looked around. I couldn't even hear  anything. I wasn't even sure if the capitol was creaming or was shocked. I could see my mother sitting down looking as pale as an onion. I could see Katniss screaming,crying, running out the door. We could here Haymitch in the next house screaming and throwing things at the T.V. I sat there not knowing what to do, think,say................ All I know is Katniss is going to dye, alongside Peeta, and I am the reason why she is practically dead....... I can never forget this.
